Grafitti. Actually spelt “graffiti”, but the domain name was already taken… An odd mix of philosophy and banality, religion and harlotry, art and obscenity, colour, shape, size, talent and expression. Or just plain, good old-fashioned malice.
The one thing they do have in common, is that the perpetrators of the artform do not care to offend. Also, they often express just for the sake of expressing, not necessarily because they hold some cause dearly, or have a deep conviction which brings humankind a better approach to life… Often it is simple mischief or just passing the time, sometimes just ordinary vandalism.
So you find in this site, right alongside the original spray can variety on bridges and buildings, in doorways and public toilets, and any manner of public places, some similarities to that. It is expressing for the sake of expressing, for one. It is individually held views which do not profess or presume to represent anyone, or any cause other than the views and beliefs of the author. Some will be right, some will be wrong, both will offend though deeply regretted, since offense is not the motive here. Nor mischief, vandalism or self-indulgence. Or art, for that matter. It is simply putting a view out there in the hopes of engaging with others. With you, in other words.
It may last a few days, a few weeks, months, or years. I may share daily or annually. There may be many followers or few, or none at all. And the content may be interesting, boring, constructive, or destructive. It may mean something to someone, or achieve nothing at all, other than being out there. Today is the 1st of September 2023, and today I just don’t know. But time will tell. And I will leave this page right here, and never edit it once launched, so you can be the judge of that in time to come.
